Especially with pop art, which so enthusiastically embraces the idea and process of mass production - and worships its outcome.

But even Campbell’s soup cans, not to mention the labels, have to be designed.

At Artake we offer the best of both worlds. Our art work is unique while still rooted in the vitality and shameless mechanism of mass production techniques. We cheerfully use the computer and silk screen (and other commercial) print processes while at the same time each work for you receives the artist’s personal attention. Indeed pop art today embraces the new commercial reality which manufacturers as diverse as Ford and Dell aspire to, that of mass customization.

We start from the photograph or electronic image which you send us. We check that it has enough detail to work with. And when we are satisfied that it has, we use a computer to sketch or plan the work (what in relation to the other end of the artistic spectrum, Renaissance fine art, is known as a cartoon). Having planned the work we can either turn to silk screen printing or to further computer based painting to create the central image. Finally - and depending on the exact details of your order - we may do some final painting (or completing) by hand.
